Re: [TRNSYS-users] b18 doesn't work

Thank you for solution!!!

My aim was to mimic heat transfer between air nodes which are not separated by any partition. I have set adjacent window with air properties but also I would like to adapt this window convection coefficients. Therefore I have set them so high  - to mimic direct contact.

Kind regards,

Karol

Karol,

It seems that Type 56 cannot cope with the very high values for convection coefficients that you have for the adjacent window. If you change those to 100 kJ/h-m²-K or less the simulation runs normally (i.e. heating seems to do something).

With intermediate values (e.g. 500) the simulation stops with errors that say convergence cannot be reached inside Type 56 for heating, so maybe that’s what is also happening in your original simulation, although there is no trace of the problem in warnings or errors.

David,

Thank you for hint with CompareIt. All changes which you discover are known for me and unfortunately don’t solve my problem.

Are you try to run simulation on your computer? Do you see the same problem (heating and cooling doesn’t work)?

It is very strange…

Best,

Karol

Karol,

I have noticed some similar behavior in TRNBuild. It does not seem to be systematic apart from the zone's thermal capacitance which always gets set back to its default value during the process. When I export a *.b18 to an *.idf, make changes, and then reimport back to a *.b18 I usually take a look at the before and after versions of the *.b18 using a text compare tool (I use CompareIt but there are many others).

In your file it looks like a new HEATING type got added (HEAT002) and that the heating in zone "parter" got changed from HEAT001 to HEAT002. The set point temperature for HEAT001 and HEAT002 are the same though so I would have expected the behavior to be the same before and after the changes that you made in the *.idf.

The other change I notice is in the windows; two unused WINDOW types were removed and one new one was added.

I'm not sure that any of the above will help but I hope it does!

best,

 David

Dear Experts,

I have problem with my b18 file (I use demo version).

The first model consist of 2 floors connected partially by Virtual Surface and partially by visible surface. In this model I have set heating, cooling, ventilation.

Then I have export model to .idf to change VirtualSuface to partition with ADJ_WINDOW in SketchUp.

When I upload new building model and set in my general model settings of heating and cooling don’t work – temperature is not kept…

Do you know what is the reason?

I enclose both building models (bud1_light and bud2_light) and general model.

Kind regards,

Karol
