Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRNSYS18 cannot properly read the TRNSYS17 files?

Siliang,

This sounds like an issue that should be sent to your TRNSYS distributor for tech support. Trnsys18's TRNBuild should be able to correctly read and interpret Trnsys17 building description files. If you aren't sure who to contact, please send me a direct email and I can point you in the right direction.

kind regards,

 David

Dear colleagues,

We recently upgraded our TRNSYS17 into the new TRNSYS18. However, when I open my previous TRNBuild files (TRNSYS17) in TRNSYS18, the internal gains (i.e. people, lights and equipment) have been significantly changed compare to their original values (of course I’ve unified the units for the comparisons). For dealing with issue, I’ve tried to changed those values in TRNSYS18 and made them to be identical with the original values (TRNSYS17), for instance, I made the “radiative heat + convective heat = the original heat gain”. It should produce the same results as what they are in TRNSYS17, but the heating and cooling loads are significantly changed (e.g. cooling load is 360kW in TRNSYS17, but it is 380kW in TRNSYS18).

All other parameters such as the thermal properties of building envelope were not changed in TRNSYS18. As such, I will say the only issue is come from the internal gain setting of the regime types.

Did anyone of you come across the similar issues? Is there any solution for this issue?

Thanks and best regards,

Siliang
