[TRNSYS-users] Energy balance questions about using Type 557a for simulation of a ground coupled heat pump

Dear TRNSYS users:

I am using Type 557a to simulate a ground coupled heat pumps for both heating and cooling. And from the results of a 20-year simulation, I find that the inlet source temperature to the heat pump has decreased by 1 degree even though there is a net heat rejection (the heating injection to soil for space cooling is larger than the heat extraction for space heating) in a year. I am confused about this result because a net heat injection usually increases the soil temperature and thus leading to a higher source inlet temperature to the heat pump. I wonder if anyone could explain this situation?

Yours sincerely,

Patrick
