Job/Research Summary
|
The
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky
Mountains in Golden, Colorado, is the nation’s primary laboratory for
research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy
efficiency technologies. NREL’s Strategic Energy Analysis Center has an
immediate opening for full time energy analysis engineer. The employee will
support the development of the System Advisor Model (SAM) with a variety of
tasks that may include case study analysis, model development and
programming, and validation.

Job Duties
|
Position
will support the continued development of the System Advisor Model (SAM).
Duties include validation and testing of new features in the model,
programming of new capabilities, and setting up case studies in the model of
specific systems and assisting with large scale analysis efforts using the
model. This position will integrate into the larger SAM team (which spans
several groups and Centers at NREL) and work across solar, wind and
geothermal technologies across system performance and financing.

Required Education and Experience
|
Relevant
Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of
experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
|
General
knowledge and application of engineering technical standards, principles,
theories, concepts and techniques.
Training in team, task or project leadership
responsibilities. Intermediate abilities and knowledge of practices and
techniques. Beginning experience in project management. Good writing,
interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities
|
Excellent
written and oral communications. Proficient with MS Word and Excel. Strong computer
programming skills and direct familiarity with the engineering of energy
systems and concepts. Must be able to work 40 hours per week in our Golden,
Colorado office.

Preferred Qualifications
|
Experience
with transient system simulation using TRNSYS or other modeling tools.
Understanding of solar thermal, geothermal, and wind technologies preferred.
Strong software application development skills and experience desired in
C/C++/Fortran90/wxWidgets/TRNSYS.
