Re: [TRNSYS-users] weather file .tm2
I believe that in the TMY2 format, columns 2 and 3 of each line contain
the year on which that data point was recorded. I am not sure what is
done for TMY2 files that are "created" instead of containing
recorded data.
Kind regards,
David

Hi Franck,
TM2 is only a data format. It depends on what the person who created the
file put into it. Usually, the data are averages over many years.
The TM2 files delivered with TRNSYS were created with METEONORM
(see
http://software.cstb.fr/soft/present.asp?context=Meteonorm&langue=us
)
and do not represent 'real years', but 'Typical Mean Years' (that's where
the names TM2 and TMY come from).
The TMY2 users manual is available online
http://rredc.nrel.gov/solar/pubs/tmy2/ .
