Welcome to the TRNSYS Users Forum.

The forum is a place where people can interact and have discussions about different topics involving the use of the TRNSYS software package. Here you can post topics for discussion or questions on using TRNSYS and get advice from other users or TRNSYS experts. This forum is not intended for detailed technical support. Users should contact their distributor’s hotline for such assistance.

Some tips for success on using the forum:

  • Follow the Forum Rules posted in Forum Administration.
  • There are categories for different types of topics and questions. Post your topic or question into the proper category.
  • Before posting a topic or question search the existing topics  (and the TRNSYS Users listserv archive or Post archive) to see if a similar topic or question has already been answered.
  • Use a descriptive topic name. Don’t use attention getting subjects, they don’t get attention and only annoy people.
  • State the version of TRNSYS and which add-ons your are using.
  • Include enough specific details for your topic of question to be answered. Just posting “Why am I getting an error?” without describing the specific error and what you are trying to do when you get the error will not receive a response that fixes your issue.
  • Remember when people help you, they are doing you a favor. Be patient, help people out by posting good descriptions of what you need help with, and be polite even if a response does not solve your issue.
  • Moderators may edit your post for clarity or move your topic to a more appropriate category.

Hello,

I just started learning Trnsys and I am a student working on my master thesis. I am working with the demo version of the program and with the demo components from the example folder of the program. More specifically I work with the componentn Type151.  I received this error:

TRNSYS Message 99 : Bad or missing data on control card. TRNSYS understood a keyword and is looking for additional information for that keyword, but cannot find it. The control card is in "reported information" below. Reported information : ASSIGN "ASSIGN 20 "C:\TRNSYS18demo\Examples\Data Files\Type152-FanLawPerformance.dat" .

Can someone explain me the problem behind this please?

Best regards

Hello @jojo,

Welcome to the TRNSYS forum!

When you say you are working with the demo components from the example folder, are you starting from an empty TRNSYS project and adding Type 151, or are you trying to run or edit an existing example with Type 151? Have you made any edits to the example project, or tried to change the Type 151 external file or manually edit the input file?

I can run both a standalone project with Type 151 and the System5 example (TRNSYS18\Examples\HVACTemplates) with the full version of TRNSYS, but I haven't tried with the latest demo release.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply! The former file was the example building sys 7 file and I had to adapt it because with demo version I can only simulate two zone from TRNbuild.  So I modified some equations ( f.e. I deleted the lgt_LOWER3 component or the lpsOA-LWR3 component).  At the inside of Type 151 I cahanged the Design dry air flow rate and the design fan power because I am trying to simulating a real ventilation system and I am working with its design Values.

Best regards

Hello @jojo,

The examples usually can't be modified or saved in the demo version.

If you start a new project (New -> Empty TRNSYS Project) and add Type 151 and a two zone building, that should work. Note that the demo version also restricts you to five components or less in a simulation.

Good luck!
