Welcome to the TRNSYS Users Forum.

The forum is a place where people can interact and have discussions about different topics involving the use of the TRNSYS software package. Here you can post topics for discussion or questions on using TRNSYS and get advice from other users or TRNSYS experts. This forum is not intended for detailed technical support. Users should contact their distributor’s hotline for such assistance.

Some tips for success on using the forum:

  • Follow the Forum Rules posted in Forum Administration.
  • There are categories for different types of topics and questions. Post your topic or question into the proper category.
  • Before posting a topic or question search the existing topics  (and the TRNSYS Users listserv archive or Post archive) to see if a similar topic or question has already been answered.
  • Use a descriptive topic name. Don’t use attention getting subjects, they don’t get attention and only annoy people.
  • State the version of TRNSYS and which add-ons your are using.
  • Include enough specific details for your topic of question to be answered. Just posting “Why am I getting an error?” without describing the specific error and what you are trying to do when you get the error will not receive a response that fixes your issue.
  • Remember when people help you, they are doing you a favor. Be patient, help people out by posting good descriptions of what you need help with, and be polite even if a response does not solve your issue.
  • Moderators may edit your post for clarity or move your topic to a more appropriate category.

Hi,

The Type 515 scheduler keeps deleting the defined indicators after one simulation.

I went through the document and saw that there us a program called SeasonScheduler.exe. However, I could not find it.

Would you please let me know how to resolve this issue?

Best

Shams

@shamsoddinghiami I am not able to replicate that behavior, so I do not know what may be going wrong.

SeasonScheduler.exe is the executable that is called when you click the wizard wand icon in the lower left of the proforma. Are you using the wizard to set the heating and cooling season indicators? If so, are you saving the changes (File -> Save) in the scheduler window before closing the window? Or are you editing the file it saves another way?

@a_weiss
Thanks for your response.
I am using the wizard to generate the heating and cooling period and save the file to the model directory. However, upon closing the software and reopening it, the seasonal scheduler changes to undesirable values and it is not possible to open the saved file again. So I delete the component and drop a fresh version of scheduler to the model. Doing so and linking it to other components are quite time-consuming

That is strange - I just tried saving and closing the project I was testing and re-opening, and the values I set prior to closing are retained. I then tried closing the entire Simulation Studio and re-opening the project, and again the values I set prior to closing are retained.

Are you using a v17 or v18 version of the TESS libraries? (It is not uncommon to have v17 libraries with Trnsys18). You can check by looking at the file names in the UserLib/ReleaseDLLs or UserLib/DebugDLLs folders in your main TRNSYS directory.

Just to rule out the file location as a culprit, I also tried copying and pasting the default ExampleFile_Type515.hcs into the model directory, and pointing to that location on the External Files tab. Still not having any problems retaining values in Type515, even after closing and re-opening the file or closing and re-opening Simulation Studio.

Are you trying to access the external file or wizard while the online plotter window is open? I did try to open the wizard while the online plotter was open, and got a 'file could not be read' error, and saw the wizard display window revert to the default heating and cooling season settings. Once I closed the wizard window and closed the online plotter, though, the wizard worked normally and displayed the indicators previously saved.

If you have a v18 version of the TESS libraries and are still having issues, I guess the next thing I would recommend is to send your .tpf project file and any external files needed to run your project to your TRNSYS distributor. Maybe something else is corrupted in the project file.
