Some tips for success on using the forum:

  • Follow the Forum Rules posted in Forum Administration.
  • There are categories for different types of topics and questions. Post your topic or question into the proper category.
  • Before posting a topic or question search the existing topics  (and the TRNSYS Users listserv archive or Post archive) to see if a similar topic or question has already been answered.
  • Use a descriptive topic name. Don’t use attention getting subjects, they don’t get attention and only annoy people.
  • State the version of TRNSYS and which add-ons your are using.
  • Include enough specific details for your topic of question to be answered. Just posting “Why am I getting an error?” without describing the specific error and what you are trying to do when you get the error will not receive a response that fixes your issue.
  • Remember when people help you, they are doing you a favor. Be patient, help people out by posting good descriptions of what you need help with, and be polite even if a response does not solve your issue.
  • Moderators may edit your post for clarity or move your topic to a more appropriate category.

[Solved] Summation of values of a year

Hello everyone,

I am simulating a building in 1 year (8760 hr) with time-step 1 min and along this, I am getting some output/ results every min. How can I force Trnsys to sum all values of N variables every min over the whole year and then to return me just a single result that I can print in .out file.

I have tried Quantity Integrator but it returns a file with summed values every minutes, where the last one is the total sum that I am searching, but I would like to get just the single and total result. I cannot understand how to use periodic integrator as someone suggests online and I am not sure it is the Type I am searching.

Other suggestions?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Maja, it sounds like you are on the right track. I suspect that you might have used the quantity integrator (Type24) with a printer (Type25) to make the output file. The Type25 printer may be set to print every timestep (or every minute). You can just set it to print once at the end of the simulation and you'll get the integrated values of the outputs in which you are interested.

As a side note, depending on which version of Trnsys you are using there is also a combined integrator/printer (Type46) that automatically prints on the same interval as you have chosen for the integration period.

kind regards,

 David

@davidbradley Thank you for the reply David! In the end I set the printer to print every STOP (end of the simulation), as you suggested.
