Welcome to the TRNSYS Users Forum.

The forum is a place where people can interact and have discussions about different topics involving the use of the TRNSYS software package. Here you can post topics for discussion or questions on using TRNSYS and get advice from other users or TRNSYS experts. This forum is not intended for detailed technical support. Users should contact their distributor’s hotline for such assistance.

Some tips for success on using the forum:

  • Follow the Forum Rules posted in Forum Administration.
  • There are categories for different types of topics and questions. Post your topic or question into the proper category.
  • Before posting a topic or question search the existing topics  (and the TRNSYS Users listserv archive or Post archive) to see if a similar topic or question has already been answered.
  • Use a descriptive topic name. Don’t use attention getting subjects, they don’t get attention and only annoy people.
  • State the version of TRNSYS and which add-ons your are using.
  • Include enough specific details for your topic of question to be answered. Just posting “Why am I getting an error?” without describing the specific error and what you are trying to do when you get the error will not receive a response that fixes your issue.
  • Remember when people help you, they are doing you a favor. Be patient, help people out by posting good descriptions of what you need help with, and be polite even if a response does not solve your issue.
  • Moderators may edit your post for clarity or move your topic to a more appropriate category.

I used these types on my previous computer, and they were working. But they do not work anymore, and when I want to use the wizard to set the monthly or daily schedule, it gives the following error:

Run time error: '339':

Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

I should note that the software is updated, and this error is not only in my saved project. I tried these types in a new project, and again, it was not possible to set the schedule.

Hello @saeidbina ,

The installation on your new computer probably either cannot find or has not registered the Windows 'comdlg32.ocx' file. I wrote the following instructions a few years ago for solving 'comdlg32.ocx' errors. I haven't tried them since, but I hope they still work!

1) Download the comdlg32.ocx file from the link: http://www.bioinformatics.org/snp-tools-excel/comdlg32.ocx
2) Move the downloaded file to the C:\\Windows\System32 folder (for 32-bit) and/or to the C:\\Windows\SysWOW64 folder (for 64-bit)
3) Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator" (with Windows 10 and up you can just search the computer system for 'command prompt' and select to run the program as an administrator)
4) In the command prompt window that opens, type "REGSVR32 C:\Windows\System32\comdlg32.ocx" (without the quotes) for 32-bit, or type "REGSVR32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\comdlg32.ocx" (without the quotes) for 64-bit
5) Check for a pop-up message saying "DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\System32(or SysWOW64)\comdlg32.ocx succeeded.", which should appear if it installed correctly.
6) Restart Windows and try opening the viewer again.

@a_weiss Thank you so much for your solution. It worked for the seasonal schedule, but the daily schedule, which gives the following error, still does not work.

Error: "Run time error '372': Failed to load control 'SliderNumber' from. Your version of may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application."

It is Type 516, and when I try to set the weekly schedule using the wizard, it shows this error.

@saeidbina I messaged my colleague that wrote the app, and they said the older version of the app used some windows controls plugins that are no longer supported by newer versions of Windows. The v18 version of the plugin works with newer versions of Windows. Are you running a v18 version of the TESS libraries, or a v17 version? (Even with a v18 version of TRNSYS, it is entirely possible to have a v17 version of the libraries installed). You can check by looking at the folder names in the UserLib/ReleaseDlls folder of your main TRNSYS directory; v18 libraries will have names like TESS_XX_v18_X_64.dll, while v17 libraries will have names like TESSXXLibrary_v17.X.X_Release.dll
