  I'd start by defining an equation like:


aboveFive = GT(inputVal,5.)


the variable aboveFive will have a value of 1 if inputVal is strictly greater than 5. You can then integrate aboveFive in which case you will get the cumulative amount of time that inputVal has been greater than 5.
