Dr Lee,
That is true; however, the same was true for Trnsys17.
In Trnsys16, exporting a proforma as Fortran did two things: it
created the skeleton fortran code and it created a Compaq Visual
Fortran workspace that could be used to compile the Type.
In Trnsys17 the CFV compiler was no longer developed or
commercially available so there was a switch made to the Intel
Visual Fortran compiler. Exporting a proforma in Trnsys17 did two
things: it created the skeleton fortran code and it created an
Intel Visual Fortran solution that could be used to compile the
Type. There was, however, also a prebuilt Intel Visual Fortran
project called MyType in the TRNDll IVF solution workspace. Users
could add their Types to MyType and recompile it.
In Trnsys18 there is still the MyType project in the TRNDll
solution for IVF. Now the proforma export as Fortran feature just
creates the skeleton fortran code. After that, the user can put
the code into a TypeStudio workspace or, if they own the IVF
compiler, they can put the Fortran code into the MyType project.
kind regards,
David

TypeStudio and CVF are very different. TypeStudio is an
interface for the gcc Fortran compiler that is intended to be
very specific to writing TRNSYS Types. It cannot be used to
recompile the entire TRNDll. If you need a compiler that can
recompile the entire TRNDll and that has debugging features like
the Compaq Fortran compiler did then you'll need to use the
Intel Visual Fortran compiler that plugs into Microsoft Visual
Studio.

David

Dear all.
I have just installed TRNSYS18. However, I find that the
TypeStudio cannot access the component workspaces that I have
previously created using Compaq Visual Fortran. Does anyone
know how I can solve the problem? Thank you!

Hello, David.
Thanks for your reply. Do you mean that for any new component
proforma created in TRNSYS18, the exported workspace will no
longer be accessible by using Compaq Visual Fortran?
Best Regards
