Re: [TRNSYS-users] TYPE 39 VARIABLE VOLUME TANK

you should try storage tank of type 502 of STEC library. It will work finely.

I am Noor-us-Saba, an undergraduate mechanical engineering student from NED University of engineering and technology. I am using TRNSYS for my final year project which is due in one week. I am facing a problem.

I was trying to use ,variable volume tank, TYPE 39 but it says "RANGE CHECK ERROR; AN UNEXPECTED ERROR WAS ENCOUNTERED AND TRNSYS WILL ABORT" I am clueless how to deal with this problem.

I have made the whole model of CSP plant using central receiver and it gives perfect outputs. I just have to add the tanks to show storage. But this component has stopped all my work.

I am badly in need of your help. My university bought TRNSYS 16 in 2005 and this component does not work in any of the systems in which this software is installed.

Thanks in advance.
Hello every one

I am new user of TRNSYS. I am looking forward to simulate in Type 56 3D, but I just found that it is necessary to have TM2 climate data file? But for Cuenca, Ecuador I just found only .EPW file. It is possible to simulate in type 56 with EPW ? or it is possible to export EPW file to TM2? Thank you in advance for your help

Kind regards

Ismail,

Your approach of connecting the soil temperature to the boundary temperature will work but will likely over-estimate the loads - sometimes significantly.  The storage in the ground around the basement can play an important role.  There are several good ground modeling components out there but I would recommend Type1267 from TESS after looking at your schematic.  The model will likely slow down the simulation but will provide MUCH more realistic results.  And with the included soil temperature viewer you'll be able to visualize the heat transfer into the soil.  We use it on all of our basement projects.  There are several tricks we can share to help with the simulation speed issue too.

Dear Trnsys-experts,

Would anyone happen to have an experience on advanced building modeling with basements included? I am trying to model a building in TRNSYS 17 using type 56. My building includes three basements as shown in figure below.

I am wondering if what I have done puts me in the right path, to know: I used Type 77 to model a simple ground temperature, then the output (soil temperature at Node) has been connected to TBOUNDARY. In fact, I have set three Nodes in type 77 (one node for each basement) and the walls's boundary conditions of the basements are = 1*TBOUNDARY.

Thanks in advance

Ismail
