[TRNSYS-users] Fw: TRNSYS-users Digest, Vol 107, Issue 16

Dear David,
Many thanks for your help
The problem was solved by running the simulation studio as administrator.
Kind regards,
Shahen

  1. Problem with type 14b forcing function (Ayoola Afolayan)
  2. Re: Fw:  help in Tansys3d and sketchup (David BRADLEY)
Am modeling a solar domestic water heating system using TRNSYS 16. I want to control when the water in the storage tank is being drawn at a certain flowrate. I connect the output of the type 14b to the coldside flowrate of the tank. I also specify the time of draw and rate for different points but when i check the graph on the plotter and printed the result in excel, the results am having is far different from what was expected. I wanted to control when the water is being drawn but it seems the type 14b is not obeying this command. I will like to know which other component can perform this task and how?
Thank you
Ayoola

Shahen,
Are you able to browse to the location mentioned in the error message (c:\Users\a\Desktop\Learning\Trnsys3D\) and open the file untitled.idf using a text editor?

Given the path to the file that you are using, I am almost certain that the problem lies in the permissions that the account has on the folders in question. As I mentioned in my previous email; full administrative access is needed and very often the c:\Users folder has a lot of protections on it.
Regards,
 David

Shahen,
Just to be entirely clear, the steps you should follow at that point are:

1. open TRNBuild
2. select File: Import Trnsys3D file...
3. click the arrow button in the field in the upper left of the window and browse to find untitled.idf (click ok)
4. click the radio button at the right hand side of the window to indicate whether the building is in the northern or southern hemisphere.
5. click the button next to "import"

when I try your file, I am able to import it. If you aren't, I would recommend that you look at the permissions on your \Trnsys17 directory and make sure that you have administrator level access to the entire directory. I wonder if there is a DLL being called that won't run due to a file permissions problem.
Kind regards,
 David

However, at the end when I tried to import the IDF file in the simulation studio nothing generated and I'm not getting the automatic generated project. I repeated the process many times, even with onezone (just the first floor), but no results. What I'm doing wron
