Re: [TRNSYS-users] [TRNSYS-USERS]Heat pumps

Simon,
There aren't any heat pump models in the current standard library. The TESS HVAC Library has a number of different models available but they all use the same basic computation methodology and read performance from an external data file. Which heat pump model you use depends on which heat pump technology you have (single stage air-to-air, multi stage water (source) to air, variable speed air (source) to water, etc.).  If you can be more specific about what kind of heat pump you want to use, I can suggest a specific Type for you.

You will find one difference in heat pump components in that some are "normalized" and some are not. The non-normalized components require that the machine's capacity and COP be entered into the external performance data files for a number of different operating conditions. The normalized versions take the machine's rated capacity and COP as parameters while the external performance files contain ratios of capacity at a particular operating condition to the rated capacity (and ratios of COP at the operating condition to the rated COP).

Kind regards,
 David

Hey TrnSys-community,

which types would you recommend (Standard, Standard TESS and Non-Standard TESS)  to use for simulating differnt heat pumps.
Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards
Simon
