The Multizone Building manual has the description of how the building model works and an example of how you put together a project to model a building.

The Mathematical Description manual describes how Type 99 works. I would recommend starting there if you want to use Type 99.

If you have the data in Excel, you should use Type9 to read your data and Type16 to calculate the solar radiation.
