Re: [TRNSYS-users] questions about TRNOPT

Tim,

Thanks soooo much!

It works when I copies the full path of Type 9.

Best regards,

Yin

Yin -

Make sure you specify the full path for the file that Type 9 will be reading.  Since Genopt copies and moves the dck files around it must include the full path if it is to correctly find the data file.

Tim

Hi, Matt,

Thanks for your help. The example works fine now. And for my model, I guess the problem is about a data reader component (Type 9c) I used in my model. When I delete this one, the optimization process works. But I cannot solve this problem, the data reader component is important in my model, I need it to read my load calculation file.

Do you have any idea why the data reader has problem with my optimization? In order to test it, I disconnected all the links with Type 9c, while I still keep Type 9c in my model, and the optimization stil l has the same error message.

Best,

Yin

Dear Yin Hang,

Please make sure that you can first run the example (.\Optimizaiton\Example\Example.tpf) sucessfully in the TRNSYS Simulation Studio. If that runs ok, then implement the TRNOPT with the input (*.dck) file for that example as outlined in the tutorial (.\Optimization\Documentation\TrnOptv17.pdf). I see from your email below that you were able to do this, no? If you have problems and as the tutorial says, you will have to look in the *.lst or *.log file in the ".\Optimizaiton\GenOpt\Simulation" and/or ".\Optimizaiton\GenOpt\Configuration" directories.

The other issue is that you have to make sure that in the *.log file, the TRNOPT component Type583 needs to be loaded from the "TESSOptimizationLibrary_v17.01_Release.dll" and NOT any other former DLL.

Last, please make sure that you are usin g at least GenOpt 3 for TRNOPT v17.

Best regards,

Matt Duffy

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] questions about TRNOPT

Dear TRNSYS users,

Probably this question was already been asked, but I could not find the answer. I hope someone could help me out with my problem.

I want to use ! TRNOPT fo! r a optimization problem. I use TRNSYS 17 for my model, and I believe the TRNOPT is version 17.

My model works fine in the simulation studio, although it takes several warnings. But when the GENOPT starts, I received an error message in the GENOPT screen:

“Assigning 2 threads for simulations.

Initialize.

Java.lang.Exception:

Exception in execu ting the simulation program

Simulation working directory:….

Command string:…

Error in executing the simulation program

Exit value of the simulation program: 1

Working directory:

Current command String:…

Error stream of simulation program: Simulation program did not return an error stream.

GENOPT terminated with error.

See logfile for future information.

Could someone tell me what does this error mean, or where can I find more detailed information about this error?

I run the example in genopt, and it works well. So I believe there should be something wrong with my model rather than the software itself.

Thanks.
