Re: [TRNSYS-users] Solar Panel Type 1b

Patrick,
The "collector area" parameter is for the entire array, not for a single panel. I believe that we clarified the "more" button information with the release of TRNSYS 17 to say: The total area of the solar collector array consistent with the supplied efficiency parameters (typically gross area and not net area).
Kind regards,
 David

Hi Trnsys-Users,

I would be pleased to get some detailed information and help for the type 1b.

I wanna simulate a solar-supplied heating system. In addition to it I use the type 1b for a solar array. The hole solar array has to be 30 m² tall, compound by 12 panels.

Out of these 12 pieces are 6 of it in a row. The rows are parallel in the hydraulic system.

I fixed the system in Trnsys as followed with one type 1b:

Number in series: 6

Collector area: 4.84 m²

The type doesn’t provide the expected values.

So I tested some small projects. I found out, that the number in series doesn’t have any impact to the useful gains. It doesn’t matter, if I put the value to 1 or to 100.There is no different.

What’s wrong?

On the other side I used 12 panels and connected them to an array. It worked well and the output seems to be ok.

Next I only used 1 panel with 30 m². The useful gains compared with gains out of 12 panels are 10-times more.

Which solution is the right one?

I use Trnsys 16 and I can’t update it, because I got it just to do my exam.

Many thanks in advanced for your help.

Patrick
