1) Read the documentation for Type 9 and Type 16 carefully. Pay special attention to the section on interpolating data in Type 9 (don't with radiation) and the section in Type 16 about solar time versus local time. Consider daylight savings time (if applicable).
2) Create your external data file with the weather data.
3) Find the Type 9 data reader and choose the expert mode (Type9e). Choose the settings that match how your data file is set up.
4) Drag out a Type 65 online plotter and make sure that the simulation is reproducing the data from the external file correctly.
5) Then find the radiation processor and choose the mode where only the total horizontal radiation is know (Type16a). Choose the parameters carefully.
6) Connect the total horizontal radiation from the data reader to the radiation processor. Also connect the time of!
last read and time of next read inputs,
Repeat step 4.

Dear Mr. Jezequel,
Many thanks for your answer.
Yes, I saw the Example: RadiationP!
rocessing etc.It uses Type 16i i.e. Total horiz. Diffuse known(Mode 5)
. But I only get the Global Radiation data, I can't get the Diffuse radiation on horizontal from our weather station.
Besides that, it uses Type 9f which links to Type 16i. I can't find Type 9f in Proforma in Simulation Studio.

Hi,
I’m new to TRNSYS and am modelling a brick building with very thick walls in places but which has an extension with fairly lightweight thin walls. In order to pass the stability criteria, I found it necessary to increase the output time base to 2 – what I’m wondering is how this affects the rest of the analysis, in particular the thinner lightweight walls?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Regards,
Rebecca

When I'm defining an active layer, the save button is not accessible. So I put it into my wall type and I can save the wall type with the active layer in it. When I close out of TRNBuild and start a new project, the layer I defined as an "active layer" get assigned to a "massless layer" and the active layer option is not available. Any help as to why this happens is appreciated.

I added our institute own weather data into TRNSYS using Type 9. But I also want to add the other weather data: Global Radiation into TRNSYS. As I knew, I need Type 16 and Type 9. But I don't know detailed setting and defination of Type 16. Please give me some advices in details. E.g. 1. Which Mode should I select? Mode 2? Because there are Global radiation, Outdoor temperature and Humidity and wind speed, wind direction and Air pressure in our weather station. 2. In details which Inputs and Outputs of Type 16 need I link to Type 9 and others? 3. How to set and define the Parameter, Input and Output in details?

Hi!!
I am a Korean student, i'm having some trouble with solar radiation.
I want to get "Indoor solar radiation" using Type56b(Multi zone)...
But. I dont know output value about solar radiation..
I think, Ntype 73 (zone output) is zone solar radiation, is it right??
However i dont know unit of that..
So.. My question are..
1. is Ntype 73 zone solar radiation? so what's the unit??
2. if not Ntype 73, How can i get the indoor solar radiation?
thanks to all,

13 kg/h-m^2 x (7.1256 E-5 m^2) x (h / 3600 sec) = 2.573 E-7 kg/s
This seems like an awfully low mass flow rate, since what I've see!
n in literature for floor heating applications is around .05 kg/s. Am I missing something here?

Dear trnsys users,
I am simulating and studying the behaviour of a central heating system of a residential building with gas boilers. For the boiler I'm using type 700, where combustion and boiler efficiencies are inputs. I need these values as a function of the intlet water temperature and the part load rat!
io for the model to work and I don't find this data in any boiler cata
log. Only partial data like the boiler efficiency at rated power.
If somebody had any cataloge with this data I would be very thankful. Or maybe somebody knows any manufacturer who could provide me.
I know it's not a doubt or question about trnsys itself, but I'm a bit desperate.
