Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] Compyling with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 onWindows 7
Hi Matt,
thanks for your reply!
I can open those solutions and use them, but when i try to debug TRNDLL, without any modifications done by me, I get tons of errors ( see attached Log file)!
I get the information very often from other users, that everything should be straightforward with those solutions, but in fact, I allready spent too many hours solving problems, and it still does not work...
My only explanation is that my system configuration is not ment to work for this task:
Windows 7, MS Visuakl Studio 2010, Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE
Intel service told me that there should be no conflict due to the later release, however I got the information that I should use IfV 10.1.
This is not available in a trial version, but I would like to test it first, before purchasing another piece of expensive software ...
Any advice in this "endles journey" ?
Best,
Philip

Hi Philip,
We included pre-existing fortran solutions (IVF) or workspaces (IVF) that
are ready for the user to either add their own component or recompile a
DLL. You should be able to simply open the *.sln (if you have IVF) or the
*.dsw (CVF) in the “.\Compilers\...” directory. Those pre-existing
settings are for your TRNSYS directories do not have much relevance in
your case.
Best regards,
Matt Duffy

Subject:[TRNSYS-users] Compyling with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
onWindows 7
Dear All,
has anyone compiled a TRNSYS Type with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 on
Windows 7 and
Intel Visual Fortran 2010 (using TRNSYS17)?
I face many problems with trying so (modifying Type 551 in special)...
One question is, what .exe file do I have to specify in the TRNSYS Settings-
Directories for "Fortran Environment"?
Standard setting should be :C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual
Studio\Common\MSDEV98\BIN\dfdev.exe I guess...
But for MS VS 2010 I can not find the dfdev.exe file.
The C++ environment path should change as well then I guess, right?
and what about the compiler command "msdev.exe" ? What should I use here?
Up to what I've read till now it makes sense to use a windows XP machine
and Compaqu
Visual fortran 6.6B.
Then the compiling should be pretty straight forward.
Can someone confirm that, or give any advice?
I am currently reading into "language W" and "W editor" from CSTB as well
to check
wether this would do the job.
Would be great to get some input from the experience users out there!!
Thanks a lot in advance!!!
Best,
Philip
