Fred,

If you activate the ?Debug mode? in control cards (option #9), TRNSYS will
perform a series of additional tests but also output additional info about
the time spent in different parts of the program. That information can be
accessed in the ?Unit stats? and ?Type stats? tabs of the log window (the
one that opens when you click on the ?listing file? icon
(Calculate/Open/List file). That feature i very useful when a simulation
appears to run very slowly (either all the time or at a particular time
step).
This will not solve your problem but it should tell you what component is
causing it. You could then use the TRACE command to see what is going on at
that point in the simulation.

I have a simulation that runs the first 200 hours very quickly and then
essentially freezes. 

If I allow it to continue to run it calculates the next time step in
approximately 60 seconds to 5 minutes. 

Anyone have any thoughts on why the calculations of each time step are so
inconsistent and how to remedy this?
