Re: [TRNSYS-users] mass flow rate balance

Li Mei,
in the mode where Type60 has two inlet / outlet port pairs, you have to supply three of the four following pieces of information

inlet flow at port 1
outlet flow at port 1
inlet flow at port 2
outlet flow at port 2

the fourth piece of information has to be set as a -2 indicating that the model should calculate its value. In your case, you know that whatever fluid the pump puts into port 1 also comes out through port 2 so I would set your tank up so that the pump flow rate goes to both the "inlet flow at port 1" and the "outlet flow at port 1" inputs.

Regards,
David

Dear Trnsys users:

I am modelling a system with a solar water collector(type73) and a water storage (type60f-2). But when I inserted a water pump (single speed) between the outlet of the storage and the inlet of the solar collector and ran the simulation with the pump 'off', the program always stopped with a fatal error at time of beginning: A negative flow rate was encountered.

I am wandering if I used the wrong types or other types can be added to avoided this problem.

Many thanks!
