if the parameters inputs and outputs of the model do not change then there is no need to modify the proforma and the user is not obligated to replace the component in the Simulation Studio project. All they have to do at that point is make sure that they are using a DLL that contains the modified, recompiled, relinked source code that incorporates the change. If the list of parameters, inputs, and output changes then the user needs to update the proforma, then update all instances of that proforma in the project (either by performing an "edit: replace" or by deleting and readding the component. the list of inputs, outputs, and parameters in the proforma must correspond exactly to the list of inputs, outputs, and parameters that are expected by the source code. You cannot just change the proforma without also changing the source code and recompiling the appropriate DLL. Without knowing what the error message says, it is a bit hard to guess what the problem might be. you should be able to open those files with either Wordpad or Excel. The *.plt file generated by Type65 is just a tab (or space, I am not sure) delimited text file. I would guess that if Excel is showing you some strange numbers, it is just misinterpreting the format of the data that it is reading. I use Excel (2003) all the time to open output files generated by TRNSYS. Typically, I open Excel first, then select "File: Open" browse to find the file and then follow through all of the import screens to teach Excel that both spaces and tabs are field delimiters.
