Re: [TRNSYS-users] Coupling MATLAB with TRNSYS

Ali, you may be able to call TRNEXE from the command line, from within MATLAB.  Here is the syntax as you would write it at the command prompt, or in a batch program:
"c:\...\Trnsys16\Exe\TRNExe" "C:\...\Project.dck" /h

I am currently using a Perl script to call both TRNSYS and MATLAB, as well as modify TRNSYS input files.  The "\h" in the above statement disables the online plotter and the % completion dialog box.

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] Coupling MATLAB with TRNSYS

Dear TRNSYS users,

I know that it is possible to call MATLAB from TRNSYS, Using TYPE 155, but does anyone know if it is possible to call TRNSYS from MATLAB. What I'm trying to do is using MATLAB optimization tools to solve a multi-objective optimization problem. I'm trying to ask MATLAB to read TRNSYS output file, modify it to create a new input file and initiate TRNSYS. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Ali

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] Modification in a library component and output files

(This mail is sent to Matt Duffy, Cramer Silkworth and TRNSYS Users List)

Dear, Cramer Silkworth (Matt Duffy and TRNSYS users).

Your important advises were very helpful to me. Thanks again.

I still have some questions.

I am trying to modify a component that is already put (or embedded) into my project in the simulation studio. The output parameters of the component are not able to change. If somebody wants to make some changes, then it has to make changes to the library component, and put it again to the simulation studio. Is that correct?

I create some new "outputs" to a library component, defining the name, the role, the dimension and the unit. How can I be sure that the program really "understands" what is about? For example, the new parameters created by me are total and beam solar radiation in 4 elevations. As a result I get error messages. On the other hand, if I copy the same component from another project (that solar radiation in 4 elevations are already set), I don't get error messages, but I cannot change some options (for example the unit of solar radiation that is an output). Have you got any idea about solving this problem?

There is an additional question about simulation. Using type 65a, gives me a result file in *.plt form. When I read the results using the software named "WordPad" I get the correct results. When I transform the same file in order to be able to read it with excel, the numbers seems to change. For example a temperature that is +2.0008191901532996E+01, is viewed through excel as 2,00E+17!!!! Is there I can do for that. Maybe using another software?

Best regards,

Artemi Spanaki

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] doubts with time step
Hi to everyone!
I have a small doubt with the time step.
If I have my time step set to 1 hour, the values I obtain of power, which output units are in W, are really energy units of value W*h, aren´t they?
I allways thought it was like that, but now I am obtaining very low pic power for every hour in a photovoltaic array and I am begining to doubt.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I want to have TRNSYS type 74 model related to the CPC collector. I don't have it.

Thanks.

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] turn
Thank you.
I have one more question. In my simulation for the shading of the building from the surrounding buildings i used type 67. Now i want to turn the building, so i change the azimuth of surfaces in the equation 'turn'. With this, i turn only the simulated building or the hole system( simulated building and surroundings).
Thank you for your help.
