Re: [TRNSYS-users] shading device: modelisation of fixed and steep louver system

Bastien,
You may have some better luck by writing the equations for how much solar is blocked by the louvers as a function of solar altitude angle, then using Type56's "external shading device" on your windows with the result of your equations as the shading factor. The disadvantage is that both diffuse and direct radiation will be blocked equally but I think that it is still an improvement over Type34 in this case.
Kind regards,
 David

Hi,

I would like to establish a model of a external louver system with fix and steep blades. I used the Type 34, but this type is not appropriate to represent the real shading effect of the louver system in function of the solar angle. On the building, this shading louvers enable to protect a room from the sommer sun but not from a winter sun, in order to have moderate temperatures in summer and solar gains in winter.

Have someone already tried to represent such a louver system? A picture of this system is on the following link: http://greensource.construction.com/products/images/gs-image-Colt-08-06-07.jpg

Thanks

Bastien
