Michael,
The Type 556 model has been recently replaced in our inernal modeling
projects with two new models. A single buried pipe model (Type 952) and a
horizontal ground heat exchanger model (Type 916). However, neither of
these two models account for freezing of the ground. BUT - the source
code is available for these models and you could likely add the freezing
impact to the nodal energy balances without too much trouble. Both of
these new models will be made available in the next release of our
libraries or can be purchased before that time. Good luck with your
studies.
