Welcome to the TRNSYS Users Forum.

The forum is a place where people can interact and have discussions about different topics involving the use of the TRNSYS software package. Here you can post topics for discussion or questions on using TRNSYS and get advice from other users or TRNSYS experts. This forum is not intended for detailed technical support. Users should contact their distributor’s hotline for such assistance.

Some tips for success on using the forum:

  • Follow the Forum Rules posted in Forum Administration.
  • There are categories for different types of topics and questions. Post your topic or question into the proper category.
  • Before posting a topic or question search the existing topics  (and the TRNSYS Users listserv archive or Post archive) to see if a similar topic or question has already been answered.
  • Use a descriptive topic name. Don’t use attention getting subjects, they don’t get attention and only annoy people.
  • State the version of TRNSYS and which add-ons your are using.
  • Include enough specific details for your topic of question to be answered. Just posting “Why am I getting an error?” without describing the specific error and what you are trying to do when you get the error will not receive a response that fixes your issue.
  • Remember when people help you, they are doing you a favor. Be patient, help people out by posting good descriptions of what you need help with, and be polite even if a response does not solve your issue.
  • Moderators may edit your post for clarity or move your topic to a more appropriate category.

Ideas for improving the SimulationStudio user experience

Dear all,

I have been thinking about some features that might improve the user experience of SimulationStudio:

  1. Add comment column to the equation card -> The current way comments (description of the function and physical unit) functioning is very time consuming
  2. Change colour/style individual of each line/variable in the online plotter -> better contrast for plots
  3. Change Label of Online Plotter while using variables -> Be able to give short labels improves readability of online plotters
  4. Add comment function to each type to improve readability of the .dck -> Comment should be shown when mouse is hovered over the type for a few seconds
  5. Being able to not display any connection (the current “invisible” connection still shows the connection arrows) -> Improves screenshot readability
  6. Improvement in line drawing management (but I actually don´t have a suggestion here)

I am looking forward to feedback (also from other users) what you think of the issues and if you have further ideas.

With kind regards

Julian

@j_jensen thanks for the suggestions! Some of these (especially 2 and 3) are in the works already!

It is not possible to create a jpg file of a double-online-plot. I don´t know if this is intended (I rarely use this option) but a student of mine came up with that issue.

Funny; the feature of generating a jpg was added almost 25 years ago (yikes!) and it has never occurred to me to check and see if it works for double onlines. My thanks to your student!
