Hi! I have been using TRNSYS ever since my diploma thesis back in 2002 and through my MSc, PhD and post-doc years and have been coming back to it from time to time given the types I have created all these years. My focus is renewable energy systems managed by AI (e.g., check https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apenergy.2012.10.011).

When supporting students from time I see that the difficulty they face and many times they opt to use newer approaches with python libraries etc. even though I still believe TRNSYS is one of the best tools out there.

The first interaction is usually hard as is also the first time you want to do parametric runs or couple it with GenOPT to start using e.g., Particle Swarm Optimization for multi-objective optimizations.

Given also that there is already an officially documented route for calling Python from TRNSYS via CFFI it will not be that hard to develop an MCP server for TRNSYS, which could bring new life to this very useful software and help the user base grow.

Small stuff:

- the output "day of the year" by Type 15 doesn't reset after one year.

- it would be nice if Type 9 could handle data with smaller time step than the simulation.

- it would be nice if the import from dck-file included formatting.

- a "replace" function for macros.

- in the settings, if you choose the simulation start and stop time by calendar, commas are inserted automatically which give you an error if you don't remove them.

If I could wish for anything:

- the possibility to edit multiple thermal zones at once in TRNBuild.

- TRNLizard supporting more thermal zones.

- I'd love more modularity in Simulation Studio and the possibility to define local (e.g. in macro) as well as global variables.

- errors and error messages: Sometimes I still get crashes and random errors like I need to replace a unit and then everything is fine. I guess stuff like that is hard to fix because hard to reproduce. Some error messages are great, others like the Fortran errors aren't too helpful for the non-Fortran-programmer.

- free choice of construction in the TRNBuild built in radiant floor.

- SI units (one can dream :))

Dear all,

I have been thinking about some features that might improve the user experience of SimulationStudio:

Add comment column to the equation card -> The current way comments (description of the function and physical unit) functioning is very time consuming

Change colour/style individual of each line/variable in the online plotter -> better contrast for plots

Change Label of Online Plotter while using variables -> Be able to give short labels improves readability of online plotters

Add comment function to each type to improve readability of the .dck -> Comment should be shown when mouse is hovered over the type for a few seconds

Being able to not display any connection (the current “invisible” connection still shows the connection arrows) -> Improves screenshot readability

Improvement in line drawing management (but I actually don´t have a suggestion here)

I am looking forward to feedback (also from other users) what you think of the issues and if you have further ideas.

With kind regards
