Re: [TRNSYS-users] Concentrating PV-Thermal type 50

Thank you for your prompt response David.

Currently working on Trnsys 16. Please could you guide me on the way to update the proforma? I tried updating the variable list and saving the component  as per screenshot below.

However still not able to insert a value greater than 1 in the studio environment. Is something to be done differently to the proforma?

Have noticed 1 more thing with the model : At times of zero radiation and pump working the thermal energy is negative? I am interpreting it to be that at night times energy is lost from the fluid to the surroundings. However the same is not the case of the pure thermal collectors. Please could you explain this behavior?

Thanks again.

Regards,
Janeet

Janeet,

Your first two questions are things that have been fixed in the most recent version of TRNSYS. I am not sure when they were fixed but I think they have been fixed for awhile. Which version of Trnsys are you using? If it is an older version, you can fix them by modifying the proformas yourself. The errors are in the proformas and not in the code.

As for your third question, you'll need to send that to your distributor. If you aren't sure who to contact, send me a direct email and I will point you in the correct direction.

kind regards,

 David

Dear experts,

I am trying to simulate a parabolic trough concentrating collector using the type 50e-mode 8. Have included the defualt SOLCEL data file.

Had a few queries:
1. Parameter 3 - ratio of aperture to absorber area - max allowable value is 1 whereas the concentration ratio of 55 is to be simulated. Please can you advise a solution to this.
2. Input 4 - Incident radiation is required in KJ/hr or KJ/hr/m2?
3. Input 7 - Voltage applied to array - anything above 2V gives unrealistic output.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Janeet
