Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRNEXE - what file registers which time series are not to be actively plotted on a System Plot?

Eric,

There are certainly ways to turn off the plots. Unfortunately once you do then you can't get them back after the simulation has run. As you noted, the plot will remember which traces were active and which were off. It does this using a file that has the extension *.pti and the name of the *.dck being run. The *.pti file is created if it doesn't exist and is read in if it does (this is how it remembers from run to run). The *.pti is a text file so you can certainly edit it to predefine which traces are active and which are not. However, it is not commented but I think it uses 1s and 0s to denote whether a trace is active or not.

I'd run the simulation and kill it right away so that the *.pti gets written. I'd then experiment with editing the *.pti to see if you can back engineer what information it is writing. It may take some experimentation!

kind regards,

  David

Regarding TRNEXE v 1.81 (TRNSYS 17 simulation time series on-line plotter)

Is there something I can do from Simulation Studio Assembly/Output manager to supress left and right axis plots until I select them by clicking on the legend  of TRNEXE?

I am running 20 year simulations each with eight  System Plots with ten time series on the left-axis and ten on the right-axis.

I am resorting to first running a few hours simulation and painstakingly clicking Off all but one or two time series on each System Plot, so the others are greyed out on the legend and the graphics run quickly on longer simulations.  I like to have the normally grey-out items on the legend so I can inspect and trouble shoot occasionally.

I notice my choice of which time series are actively plotted is remembered in subsequent simulations.

Is there a file I can edit to instruct TRNEXE not to plot the timeseries unless I click on a (grey-out) menu item that I am interested in?
