[TRNSYS-users] Type560 PV/T collector

Dear all,

I am currently using type560 to simulate a PV/T collector in order to determine among others, its electricity power output for my thesis. After I made the connection with all the required components and defined all the necessary parameters, I decided to run simulations to determine the power output for different collector slopes. As I am doing the simulation for Copenhagen Denmark, I selected the slope to 45 degrees, which would be optimum, and I found a certain power production for an entire year. Then I decided to make a parametric analysis and change the collector slope between 0 and 360 with steps of 45 degrees. Firstly, what I observed is that the power production is higher for 0 (487 kW) and 90 degrees (484 kW) than for 45 (476 kW), and that at 180 degrees even though the panel is facing the ground (at least that is how I view it) it still produces a considerable amount (341 kW).

I believe in this case the connections with type15 are the most important. Type15 is using an external weather file for Copenhagen from energy plus (IWEC). The connections with type560 are listed below.

Type15 -> Type560

Dry bulb temperature -> Ambient temperature ; Back-surface environment temperature
Effective sky temperature -> Sky temperature
Global horizontal radiation (not interpolated) -> Incident solar radiation
Total horizontal radiation -> Total horizontal radiation
Total diffuse radiation on the horizontal -> horizontal diffuse radiation
Angle of incidence for horizontal -> Incidence angle
Ground reflectance -> Ground reflectance

Do you think there is a problem with the connections? Am I not understanding the use of "collector slope" properly?

Thank you in advance,
