Re: [TRNSYS-users] Impact of opening windows on interior comfort

Ismail,

Thermally speaking, opening a window causes more air flow to come into the building. It is quite easy to increase the infiltration into the building based on a schedule of 2 hours per day. The problem is to know how much air comes into the building as a result of opening a window and that is where TRNFLOW (or CONTAM/Type97) are useful. If you are trying to avoid using TRNFLOW because it is an add-on then you can use Type97 in the standard library (and CONTAM, a freely available software tool from NIST). If you are trying to avoid using TRNFLOW because of the amount of extra information that you need to enter then I am not aware of any simple alternatives in Trnsys17 that amount to much more than making a guess as to the air flow rate that comes in through the windows.

kind regards,

 David

Dear Trnsys users,

Is there any way to simulate the opening of windows on interior comfort without using TRNFLOW ?
The assumption is that the windows should be opened 2 hours per day. How can I do that in Trnsys 17 ?

Thank you in advance.

Best,
Ismail
