Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRNBUILD idf import error

Arnaud,

Could you email me the *.idf file ? I can take a look at it, I have met to much problems in importing idf files...

Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] Problem with heat pump Type 505 cooling and heating performance data

Usually the catalogs report total flow and do not separate out by return or outside air because the return and outside air streams mix before going through the heat pump.

It doesn't matter if your catalog has more or fewer values than the example data file. The model's parameters allow you to adjust the number of values of each variable that you are supplying in your data file.

kind regards,

 David

Hi All,
As mentioned in catalog in attachment, I have specification data of my heat pump.
I have total flow rate of 944 l/s (but i don't have return and outside air flow rates separately how can i find them?), and liquid flow rate 0.354 l/s and DHW flow rate 0.14 l/s (one fewer than mentioned in sample catalog data) , but in catalog i have 12 values for 4 temperature in cooling mode and 12 values for 4 temperature in heating mode.
In sample catalog data i need 24 values, how can i reach that other 12 values in both heating and cooling mode in that catalog data?
Please help me with this problem
Thanks

Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRNBUILD idf import error

Arnaud,

I think the adjacent window on the back side of ATR1 (the long wall that is further from the origin) is missing its window. There is a corresponding window in LEV1.

I also think there may be a problem in that LEV1 and RDC should both be annuli. If you hide all but one of those zones and then click on its roof, you'll see that the roof extends over what should be the space taken up by the corresponding atrium zone. If you redraw one of the sides of the cutout, it will turn into a window that you can then delete. Check both the ceilings and floors of both LEV1 and RDC.

kind regards,

 David

Hello,

I have difficulties importing an idf file created with Sketchup.
The import goes mainly well, except for 3 surfaces (2 walls and 1 window, which belong to one of these walls), for which I got the following error message: "adjacent wall not found" and "adjacent window not found".

These walls are indeed interior walls. They are set as "ADJ_WALL", with "Outside Boundary Condition" set as "Zone", with the correct corresponding zone. And in the adjacent zone, the walls have the same construction, and the reciprocal zone set.

All vertices correspond exactly.

Basically I followed these instructions: http://onebuilding.org/archive/trnsys-users-onebuilding.org/2013-February/024640.html

..but in the TRNBUILD, I do have "undefined" written next to that walls.

I join here my idf.

Thanks a lott for any help!
Arnaud.

Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] Save and re-use control cards quickly

Vincent -

Actually there is a way - but it's kind of sneaky!  Set the control cards you wish to change to STRINGS and give them equation names: STARTTIME, STOPTIME, TIMESTEP, ATOL, DTOL etc,

Then drag out one of the equation components and define these equation names / values for one of your cases.  Make sure to change the name of the equation component to something descriptive: MAY_JUNE_0PT25HOURS for example   When you are finished, test it to make sure it runs and then right click on the equation component in the assembly window and choose SAVE.  Pick a location in the Studio/Proformas directory that you'll remember and save it there.  Repeat this process for each of the simulation cards that you wish to create.  Then choose the Direct Access --> Refresh Tree option to re-load the libraries.  Now you've got a library of control cards that you can drag out and use each time you'd like a change.

Jeff

Hi all,

I am relatively new to TRNSYS and maybe this is an obvious question, but I couldn't find the answer in the documentation.

Is it possible to save different pre-sets of Control Cards? I will have to do a lot of simulations with different durations and time steps, but I wish not to manually change all the input of the control cards every time I do a simulation with, for example, a different .BUI file.

For example; I would like to have simulations for four seasonal representative weeks of the year (21-st-28th of March, Jun, Sep, Dec) with a time step of 0,5 hour, and also half a year with a time step of one hour. I want to save the control cards, so I don't have to change the simulation start and step hours, the time step and the tolerances all the time.

I hope my question is clear and that you can help me. Thanks in advance,

Vincent Höfte

Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] Tempering Valve Control Type 115 TRNSYS 18
Paul,

I am going back through some emails that came in while I was away. Did you get this figured out? If not then the idea of the tempering valve control is that it determines the fraction of hot and cold water that need to be mixed together to arrive at or below a desired maximum temperature. In a real system this could be accomplished by a PID but mathematically if you know the two source temperatures (one hot, one cold) then you can compute the ratio required. The PID and the tempering valve controller are redundant. Both accomplish the same thing.

kind regards,

 David

Dear all,

I'm modeling an ahu using simulation studio. The fluid (water) that passes though the heat coil is provided by a boiler in which the temperature should be controled. That is the reason why i put a tempering valve control (Type115) and a PID controller (Type 22 or 23) to compare the setpoint temperature and the heating temperature.
Why there is not "Control Signal" input in the type 115 inlet ? It is logical to control the signal of the tempering valve with the control signal output of the PID controler. I really don't understand how can I link them !
Thanks for any information you can give me.

Have a great day,
