[TRNSYS-users] Type 155 for Model Predictive Control

Dear TRNSYS Users,

we would like to implement a Model-predictive-control by using TRNSYS Type 155 to schedule the operation of some plants (CHP and gas boiler) in TRNSYS 17.

The Type will be called every 12 time-steps (1 hour) to calculate the optimal schedule for the next 12 hours. So the input of the Type will be the heat load forecast, the current state of the system (current temperatures and on/off states of the plants) and a set of parameters that could either be defined in the Type or read from an external file.

So I would like to address the following questions to you:

1) Is Type 155 able to handle internal Matlab functions like intlinprog?

2) Is it able to handle user defined functions? If so, in which path should they be saved?

3) Do you have any recommendations about how to declare variables, where to define parameters etc?

In the manual and, in general, in the internet we found the basic rules to use Type 155 and the simple examples TwoInputs.m and that for calculating solar collector efficiency. However, we haven't found detailed information or examples of MPC applications as the one described above.

Thus, any help from your side would be very appreciated.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Jacopo
