Re: [TRNSYS-users] Linear parabolic concentrator_Type 536

Hi guys,

I had the same problem after installing the latest version of TRNSYS (v17.02.0003, TESS-Lib v17.2.01). The problem appear using the type 536 alone in a project with the default parameters and file path settings. Apparently when drag and drop the type in the deck, the parameters #19 “logical unit for IAM Data” is set automatically to a number (if is the first to be imported, the number will be 30 in my case). The problem for TRNSYS (thus Fortran code) is that it requires a logical unit for the file about 10, as mentioned in the error message (please TRNSYS gurus correct me if I’m wrong), instead of 30, as automatically set by default when importing the type in the deck.  I manage to solve it, unlocking that parameter (use locker icon next to the parameter) and set it to 10. Not sure if the file will be read correctly (I will try using two different IAM files with the same input weather conditions to see if any effect arise).

Thanks Angel, but I had already checked the path,  file size and the contents of the external file. The file does have 100 data points.

In parameters, the number of data points is defined as 10 each for transverse and longitudinal incidence angles (0 to 90). So no issues there.

Anything else that could be wrong?

Thanks again..

Hi,

I would suggest to check at the "externa files" tab of the proforma that the path is ok and the file has not 0 size. If that's ok, at parameters tab, check that those indicating the number of points at the file are set correctly, regards

Angel

Hello TRNSYS users,

I am working on a model with flat plate collectors, thermal storage, external load files, absorption chiller, pumps, controllers, etc. It runs fine.

However, when I change the collector type to linear parabolic concentrator (Type 536) with sample file for Bi-Axial IAMs, I am getting this error : “The utility subroutine DATA cannot read the specified input data file. Make sure that the file is ASSIGNed correctly and that the file has the correct format.    Reported information  : ASSIGNED LOGICAL UNIT 10”

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thank you.
