Re: [TRNSYS-users] Double skin facade

Hi all,

Concerning the modelling of a DSF in TRNSYS, I have a doubt about the solar radiation calculations reported in Balance1 (NType901) and Balance 4 (NType904).

Going from indoor to outdoor, I have an indoor office space, a double glazing, the DSF cavity and an external single glazing. In particular, comparing B4_QSOL (for the indoor space) with B1_QSADJ (for the indoor space) and B4_QSOL (for the indoor space) with B1_QSGWALL (for the indoor space) I get the following general trend:

B1_QSADJ > B4_SOL > B1_QSGWALL

Which contributions are missing in this comparison?

Moreover, I want to calculate the overall solar gain from the adjacent window going toward indoor, divided in its components (transmitted radiation direct + diffuse, secondary heat flux convective towards the indoor air and LW from the internal surface to the indoor internal walls). Is this possible with the Type56 output?

Thanks a lot!

BR

Stefano

Zahid,
I have done some double skin facade modeling in TRNSYS. I typically treat the airspace of the double skin as a zone in the Type56 building model and then use Type97 (CONTAM) to calculate the air flow rate through that zone.
Kind regards,
 David
