Re: [TRNSYS-users] Humidity capacitance

Dear David,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Im using temperature level control method. My internal gains are defined internally by TRNbuilt. Is that correct or do i need to define it externally ?

My humidity ratio level went almost zero during summer when i removed insulation from adjacent walls while keeping the insulation for external walls only. Im a bit concerned about it. Does that makes sense ?

Thanks and regards,
Aisha

Ayesha,
The literature I have seen suggests that humidity capacitance multipliers typically range from about 5 to 15. The value is a multiplier on the humidity capacitance of the air in the zone. If you have set a value of 5 then you're telling Type56 that the zone can absorb 5 times as much moisture as can be absorbed by the air in the zone. If you increase the value then your zone's humidity ratio will change more slowly. The humidity ratio will not necessarily increase overall. If you are concerned about the humidity level then check to make sure that you are applying a reasonable amount of outdoor air ventilation to your zones and also make sure that you have accounted for latent energy gains in the zone not only from people but from other sources as well.
kind regards,
 David

Dear all,

I get very low humidity ratio when I run TRNSYS for building.

Does that have any relation with humidity capacity value inside TRNbuilt?

I set it as 5. Should I increase it?

Thanks and regards,

Ayesha
