Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRNSYS-users Digest, Vol 110, Issue 12

Huy Tung,

for the first step I recommend to use the internal ideal convective cooling model of Type 56.

Check the manual 05-MultizoneBuilding.pdf section 5.2.4.7. The cooling load is given as an

Type 56 output.

Dear All, especially Marion and David,

First of all, thank you so much for your kindness. I deeply appreciate your help.

Ultimately, I could figure out those errors by following your instructions. However, I found that I only need to capitalize all the names of zones in Google Schetchup pro while I create new zones.

Now, I have another confusion about TRNSYS. I need to compute the COOLING LOAD for an apartment. How can I simulate it? Which types should I use to simulate? Because I saw many types in the TRNSYS Simulation Studio.

Thank you so much.

Yours sincerely,

Nguyen, Huy Tung

Huy Tung,
There isn't much in the way of tools to help debug an *.idf file that isn't importing correctly into TRNBuild. I have not gotten the exact error message that you mentioned but I have gotten similar ones. The import feature in TRNBuild almost always creates a complete *.b17 file (even if it won't open the *.b17 fully). I would recommend that you open the *.b17 with a text editor (such as Notepad) and see if you can locate the surface that is causing you the error then go back to SketchUp, delete the corresponding surface and redraw it.
In general it is highly recommended that you draw your building one zone at a time, match surfaces, then import the building into TRNBuild after each new zone is drawn. It becomes increasingly difficult to go back and find an error in the Trnsys3D plugin. By importing after drawing each new zone you make sure that you catch the error early.
Of course if you are unable to find the cause of the error you can send the *.idf to your distributor for assistance.
Kind regards,
 David

Huy Tung,

Did you draw the model using the plugin Trnsys3d?

If you draw a surface in Trnsys3d it gets automatically assigned a “name” which is an arbitrary combination of numbers and characters.

This field isn’t an input and shouldn’t be modified by the user in order to avoid errors.

During the import in the Trnsys Studio, the *.idf file is translated into a *.b17 file and thereby the surface names are converted into

unique surface IDs.

The error messages shows you the zone and airnode name and the surface ID which is causing the error. I would recommend that you open the b17 error

In a text editor and search for the surface ID and replace it by an unique number.

Marion
