Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRNSYS-users Digest, Vol 103, Issue 2

Dear Sir,
I need one sample of simulation of current HVAC system by TRNSYS. Kindly please send to me .
Thanks

Enyuan,
Type1231 was developed based on correlations to model a heating radiator, not a cooling radiator and it is likely that the correlations simply do not hold true in cooling applications. I would look to a different model.  I would also be a bit careful; most in-room cooling radiators operate above the dewpoint because getting condensation all over their surfaces causes other problems.

As for connecting Type1231's output to Type56, define an energy gain input (as opposed to a constant value or a schedule) in the zone that contains the radiator. Then connect the Type1231 heat transfer output to the gain input. I would recommend that you split the gain about 80% convective and 20% radiative. Despite their name, most radiators do significant heating by convection.
Best,
 David

Dear all,

I'm trying to model radiant cooling using the type 1231 radiator in TESS library for TRNSYS 17. The model may be loose for cooling as condensation is not considered, but we want to have some idea of the effect when only convection and radiation are dominant. I'm looking for answers to two questions:

1. Is there any example or tutorial that shows how the radiator can be used with type 56, or how they communicate?

2. In searching previous threads on using the radiator, it seemed that there's restriction on the inlet water temperature, that it, it must be at least 0.5C above the room temperature. Can we circumvent this restriction?

Thanks.
Enyuan

Alasdair,
Are you getting the "component load failed" message when you try to drag an instance of Type230 out into your Assembly Panel or when you try to run the simulation? When I try to duplicate your steps, I get the "component load failed" message when I try to add Type230 to the project. The reason for that is that Type230's proforma was created with Trnsys17 and so is not backward compatible with Trnsys16. Type230 itself (the DLLs and the source code) both look to me as though they will work in v16 as well as in v17 so you could open the source code and determine what the parameters, inputs, and outputs of the model are, then create a proforma for Trnsys16.
Best,
 David

Hello all,

I have having difficulty using a component from the user library. The component is Type 230 and the files I am using are accessed from http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys/trnlib/library16.htm.

I have placed the .tmf and .bmp files in the location /TRNSYS16_1/Studio/Proformas/MyComponents and the .dll file in TRNSYS16_1/UserLib/ReleaseDLLs. The components appears in the studio as expected but when I try to insert it into my project the error message "Component load failed" is given.

Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong?

I am working with TRNSYS 16.01.0003.

Regards,
Alasdair Morton

Hi David,

Yes the error message appears when I drag the component onto the Assembly Panel as you suggest. I will try to do as you suggest, thank you for the advice!

Regards,
Alasdair
