Re: [TRNSYS-users] Equation and Type 20

Tobias,
The maximum heating rate is a parameter in Type60. Parameters, by definition, are read once at the beginning of the simulation and then are not updated. They are time independent. If you need a tank model in which the input heating rate is variable, I would recommend using Type534 in the TESS Storage Tank library.

The Type20 data files are described (although not very completely) in the 05-MathematicalReference manual. I assume that you are using Trnsys16; please be aware that Type20 was removed from Trnsys17 because it models a very specific (rather unusual) kind of heat pump that can use either water or air on its source side, because it can only operate in heating mode, and because it has some built-in control algorithms that cannot be modified. A preferable heat pump model may be found in the TESS HVAC library.
Best,
 David

Dear TRNSYS-User,

i have two problems with TRNSYS 17.

1. I´m trying to make the maximum heating rate of an element (of Type 60c)  depending on the power produced by PV in three steps. Shold look like that:

    If 1.5kW < PV-Power < 3kW  then heating rate = 1.5 kW

    else if 3kW < PV-Power < 4.5kW then heating rate = 3kW

    else if PV-Power > 4.5kW then heating rate = 4.5kW

I´ve set the heating rate as a String variable which shold get the value from a equation. but i don´t know how to update the equation in every time step of the simulation.

2. Does anybody know what the external files of type 20 (dual source heat pump) are? Unfortunatly ther is no example in the TRNSYS-Examples folder.

Kind regards

Tobias
