Anthony, The short answer to your question is that no, there is no way that TRNSYS can send you an email when it completes. I did write a component that plays a sound when one of its inputs is triggered because I wanted to know when my simulation ran into a particular combination of conditions. You'd have to monitor the simulation but at least it would alert you. The component is in the Trnsys17 TESS Utility Library. There is also a "triggered printer" component in the TESS Utility Library that will write to a file when its input is triggered. I'm not sure how you would trigger the printer when an error occurs because at that point the simulation is stuck. Lastly, which version of TRNSYS are you running? With the release of Trnsys16 in 2004, the window data for a particular building was contained in the building description file (*.bui or later in Trnsys17 *.b17). It shouldn't need to go find anything in the w4-lib.dat. If you are picking different windows from one optimization to another, you can include them all in the *.bui each with a different ID, then choose the window ID that you want to run in a particular iteration of your optimization.
