Re: [TRNSYS-users] Example Type 4 to Type 56 connection

TRNSYS does it's best to emulate real-world systems. So if you had a tank full of hot water in real life and wanted to heat your room, how would you do it? Therein lies your answer. Short of spraying the hot water into the room (not advised), you could pump the hot water to a radiator and heat the room, you could pump the hot water to a fan coil unit and blow air across the coil and into the room (called ventilation), or you could pump the hot water to a radiant floor. All systems would then return the cooled water back to the tank - unless your spraying the water into the room which is still not advised... So if in the real world you would need a pump, pipes, a controller and a fan coil to heat the room, in TRNSYS you'll need a pump model, controller model, a pipe model and a fan coil model to heat the modeled room.

Dear all,

I am trying to connect a thermal storage (e.g. Type 38 or type4) to a
building (type56) so that i will be able to adjust a roomtemperature
of around 20°C with the help of my storage.

I know that I need to use the temperature control but in particular i
dont know how to deal with the storage input "cold side
temperature/mass flow". Do I need to create an output in type56 which
contains the cold side temperature/mass flow and goes back to the
thermal storage?

Furthermore I see the problem in connecting the storage to type 56 as
a Ventilation:

The Storage´s outlet massflow rate will be the Input in Air Flow
The Storage´s outlet temperature will be the Input in Temperature of Air Flow
But how to deal with the humidty of the AirFlow since this is not an
output of e.g. type4??

Does anyone have suggestions or if possible a simple example where he
or she connected a thermal storage to type 56? I am very interested in
the connections between the types and I am sure that an example will
help! This would be very great!! Thanks in advance.

Best,
Michael
