Re: [TRNSYS-users] Fwd: TESS library - GHP library - Vertical BHE, U-tube -Fluid-to-ground resistance

Hi,

I will try to ask this question once more. I know it is very specific but some of the users are working with this component so they may have an answer.

It´s about Type 557b "vertical GHE", parameter 11 and 12.

If we set "negative pipe-to-pipe resistance" to 0, can "fluid-to-ground resistance" be compared to the effective borehole resistance as defined in the infinite line source approximation for instance?

I am not interested in using the other proforma "557a" because the borehole geometry (especially the shank spacing) is not controlled in my case.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Damien,

The units of thermal resistance for Parameter 11 is h.m.K/kJ.  We'll update the proforma.

Jeff,

I've read the documentation. It, indeed, gives a good understanding of the model but is not detailed enough.
Knowing the unit I am asking for would actually solve my problem. Shall I go through the code then and hopefully I will come across some comments explaining what this "any" unit is?

Thanks,
Regards,

Damien,

I am not the author of the model - just the author of the proforma.  Have you looked through the documentation fot the model in the .\TESS Libraries\Documentation\GHP Library folder?  The DST description document does a nice job explaining the thermal process used by the model.

Jeff

Jeff,

I forward you the e-mail I sent a couple of days ago the list as you are the component's author according to the proforma .

I would add to specify my first question:

If we set "negative pipe-to-pipe resistance" to 0, can "fluid-to-ground resistance" be compared to the effective borehole resistance as defined in the infinite line source approximation for instance?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

When using a vertical borehole heat exchanger (with known resistance), how the so-called "fluid-to-ground" resistance is defined? Practically, in the particular case of a U-tube heat exchanger, is it an "effective" thermal resistance (if there was only one tube) or the thermal resistance for a single tube?
One more thing, the unit is not that clear ("any"). Is it [(m.K)/W]?

Thanks in advance,

Have a nice day,

Regards,
