Dear all,
I have the questions about Active Layer:
1. The floor heating area is 27.2 m^2 in our test room, but the floor area is 40 m^2. Like this situation, Can I set two floors in TRNBuild? One is the floor with 40 m^2, another is floor with 27.2 m^2 active layer? Or others?
2. I only know the power of this floor heating 1400 W. How can I define it? Or by what method to stand for this power?
Many thanks in advance!
Br.

Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] TRnsys3D skecthup plugin
Dear Matt,
First, I may have sound a little bit agressive ;-) , and I'm sorry but I was SO frustated to have lost 3 days of work before returning to the old method...
Yes I know quite all the tricks you've said, and I did read the manual, and did a small building, and I perfectly know I would have been able to do so in a training course within 2 hours.
But the problem is for a bigger building !! (even with the manual next to the keyboard...)
I think my problem is that I (still?) don't know how to draw perfectly from the first click in sketchup, and that I have to erase, cancel, etc. And then, it is a big mess.
Anyway, thanks for taking into account our concerns, I have my answer that some people manage to be efficient with Trnsys3D!
Best
Thibaut

Subject: Re: [TRNSYS-users] Type73 - Flat-Plate Collector
Dear Matt,
Thanks al lot for your quick reply, but I have one more question.
If I change the timestep to 0.125 (or smaller) what’s about the weather-values? (Those are generated for 1 year (8760 hours) in 1-hour-steps).
Need to simulate a one-year-consumption of a house for which a have the hourly usage-values. Changing the time step will falsify the results, right?
(But I just gonna try it out)
Thanks again for the help
Best regards,
Igor

I have taken your advice and made the timestep, 0.125hrStill I cannot get it to work. it is still switching on the time step instead of the dead-band temp.Mike

Dear Michael,
Please make sure that you are using a reasonable timestep such as 0.125 hr (type in terms of hours to avoid problems with the Studio's minute conversion trucation). Also, make sure that you have the latest TRNSYS and TESS Libraries versions as well.
Best regards,

HiI have read the information, I have tried to increase parameter 1, I have also looped the controller to its self. Still it does not workI have also tried changing many other parameters and have spent a lot of time on this problem. still with no luck.Any other suggestions?Mike

Mike,
you should connect the output control function of the controller to its own input control function (Input number 4). Also, you should increase the value of parameter 1, to the default value at least (the influence of this parameter is explained at the type 2 documentation, I recommend you to read it, together with the generic section for controllers at the trnsys help)

2011/9/19 Michael Bissett <mikebiscuit@gmail.com>_______________________________________________Dear TrnsysI am experiencing problems with a simple type 2b controller.I am using a solar collector type 564bI am trying to compare the temperature of the output of the collector with output of the tank, getting a temperature difference. I have set the dead band from 4-10 degrees C.In the simulation as the temperature rises to 10degrees difference, the control signal is 1 switching the pump on correctly. but after this the controller only switches every time step. I have tried shortening the time step... and changing other parameters.. still with no success.I have attached the file.Yours SincerelyMike BissettDepartment of Electrical EngineeringUniversity of Cape TownSouth Africa
