Re: [TRNSYS-users] trnbuild and trnsys3d sketchup - shading zone issue(Type56)

Nick,

Did you indeed generate the shading matrix? Are you using the inside or outside surface temperatures? Is the zone in energy rate control or TLC?

Best,

Matt

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] trnbuild and trnsys3d sketchup - shading zone issue(Type56)

Hello,

I am using 3D geometry from Trnsys3d Google SketchUp. I created a very simple building with two thermal zones to test this. On top of one thermal zon! e I placed a shading zone and created a large box on top of one of the zones.

When I import the idf into the TRSNSYS building wizard and use TRNBuild to specify my outputs to be surface temperatures, TRNSYS is telling me the 2 top surfaces remain the same temperature over the course of the whole simulation. This would imply the shading did not work, correct? The shaded surface should show less temperature than the non-shaded of course.

Has anyone used the shading zones and had successful results with them? Does anyone out there use Trnsys3d much that I could converse with?

Thanks,
Nick
