Re: [TRNSYS-users] shading with tracking modes

Dear Brent,

Thank you for your emails to TESS and the TRNSYS-Users mailing list. First of all, if you're simulating PV, we're going to recommend that you use the Type551 shading device in the TESS Electrical (formerly Green Building) Library from the TESS Libraries 17.01. The existing Type551 could be modified to do a single axis (east-west axis) tracking without a whole lot of work; however, doing a 2-axis tracking would indeed be a lot of work. Since you are a TESS TRNSYS customer, you may email TESS Technical Support (techsupport@tess-inc.com) if you need a software update.

Best regards,

Matt Duffy

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] shading with tracking modes

I need to set up a model to predict shading effects on a fixed tilt, the two single axis, and 2 axis tracking modes for a PV array.  I have the type 30a component set up for the fixed tilt.  However, there are no components for the other three tracking modes.  Is there a way to adjust type 30a? Or does anyone know of a new component that can predict shading on a PV array with the other three tracking modes?
