Dear Fuqiao,
Your guess is correct; N = 0 or 360, E = 90, S = 180, & W = 270.
As Matt mentioned, you can find the convention used for wind direction in TMY2 data in Table 3-2 on http://rredc.nrel.gov/solar/pubs/tmy2/tables.html

Dear fuqiao,
I am not sure, but you can refer to the NREL documents about TMY2 weather
files. I am confident that the information will be in there.
Best regards,
Matt Duffy

Dear all
In tmy2 weather data, what is the reference orientation for the angle of
the wind
velocity? For example, 90 degree, does it mean east, 180 degree, means south?
Thank you very much in advance.
Cheers
fuqiao

Hi All,
I have performance data for a chiller from the manufacturer, with thermal capacity and electrical power demand for varying part load fractions, for a series of condenser water temps (60-85F, in 5F increments). Seems like I need type 42, but other than the general description in the documentation, I've no idea how to start using it. Is there a more detailed manual and/or example file?
Thanks,
Cramer

Dear TRNSYS users,
I am trying to understand the differences between the three radiation
models listed under "Longwave radiation exchange within a zone" in
"Radiation Modes of Thermal Zone" feature of TRNBuild. These models
are:
1) Standard model (starnet model)
2) Simple model (one node model with combined heat transfer coeff.)
3) Detailed model (based on view factors)
The manuals do not refer to these radiation models using the exact
names listed in TRNBuild; therefore I am feeling difficulty
understanding which of the three models is actually being discussed.
Could you please briefly explain the primary differences between the
calculations of these radiation models? I would also appreciate it
very much if you could direct me to the specific sections of the
manual (or to the related papers/thesis) that I should read to learn
more about each model.
Thanks in advance,
Best,
Simge Andolsun

Hello,
I use a fictif wall without resistance in my work to represente a direct contact
between 2 zones, the name in the model jointed here is mur-fictive, i give a
very big hi (internal heat convective heat transfer coefficient) et he (external
heat convective heat transfer coefficient) to model a good contact, but it
couldn't converge. If i give 0 to hi and he, it turns very well.
So i don't understand should give 0 to turn simulation or the wall could not be
modelized like this.
Thanks
Aleck
