[TRNSYS-users] Solar azimuth angle in the south hemisphere

Dear TRNSYS users,

We have a project in the south hemisphere but we are more used to model projects in the north hemisphere.

I have a question about which Azimuth Angle I should take to model the building’s orientations.

The Type 109 description read as follow : “The solar azimuth angle is the angle between the local meridian and the projection of the line of sight of the sun onto the horizontal plane. 0  = Facing equator, 90 = Facing west, 180 = Facing north, 270 = Facing east. Refer to the manual for details on the azimuth parameter for tracking surfaces.”

In our case, “facing equator” is north, so should the solar azimuth angle be 0 ?

We think we should take the following :

North = 0

South = 180

West = 90

East = -90 or 270

Could you confirm this or correct me if I am wrong ?

Thanks very much !

Regards,
