Hi,

Carol, I have been simulated a similar system but with lead acid battery, even I did not success to get best results for the battery voltage simulation,
may be this paper can be an example for you,

I've got some problem with the simulation,
1. I simulate the system for a year. I found that in the first week of simulation the battery SOC keeps decreasing until reach minimum SOC, even though I change the PV panel capacity a lot bigger so the Input energy will be more than load. I wonder why this thing happened.

2. In the controller, for my case I choose 47b, I set AC to DC efficiency to 0, to eliminate charging from the grid, Is it the right approach? or are there any other way to eliminate charging from the grid? because I want the system to be a stand alone system.

  Yes, that would be the correct approach. The inverter that is built in to Type194 takes the DC power directly from the array and converts it to AC. You would want a charge controller (regulator) that charged the battery with DC power and only after that converted to AC power with an inverter.

Dimas,
  I am not sure that changing the cell voltage is valid. I think that the Shepherd model assumes a certain shape to the battery's charge / discharge curve that is inherent to lead acid batteries and not as valid to other battery types. Someone please correct me if I am wrong about that.

The method comes down to curve fitting the data that you get from a manufacturer's catalog into a few polynomials. I had a hard time following the some parts of the paper and never got a chance to implement the model but it seemed to me as though the method could be extended to other battery types. I'll forward you the paper in a separate email. If anyone else has seen some modeling research in this area, I'd be quite interested in hearing about it to improve on the existing battery models.
