David, There are many different kinds of trigeneration system possible. Most of the renewable energy trigeneration systems involve some kind of power manager that decides how to dispatch the various power producers to best meet the load at all times without having to go to grid backup. If that is the type of system that you are looking at, I would recommend that you look at some of the "stand-alone power generation" examples that are included in Trnsys16 and Trnsys17.
