Wang,
I would recommend that you send your project to your TRNSYS
distributor for direct assistance. You have set your infiltration
rates in TRNBuild as constant values (independent of windspeed and
direction) for all three of your zones. However, your simulation
couples the Type56 thermal model with TRNFlow. In most
circumstances, TRNFlow would calculate the infiltration rate and it
may be that the constant values that you are specifying (and then
switching off) are actually being ignored because of the TRNFlow
integration. I am afraid I do not have TRNFlow installed so I cannot
check.
Regards,
David

turn off the infiltration, is there still having QINF?
And when the walls are massless or massive, the result of QINF
which are the same, it's 190.73 kJ all the time not only turning
on the infiltration but also turning off it; not only massless but
also massive.
Please see the ATTACHED and explain them! Thanks! These programs
are turning on the INFILTRATION, you can turn off the
INFILTRATION. The both results of TYPE 46 linking to QINF are
190.73 kJ one day.
But I calculated QINF one day by hand, the result is more than
190.73 kJ. Q=CairM(Tindoor-Toutdoor)=1.
004*( 52*24*1.2)*(20-10)=14976 kJ, where Cair=1.004
kJ/kgK, M=V*Dair=52 m3/h*24h*1.2 kg/m3
I think my calculation is right. I think TNRSYS's results are
questionable.
Many thanks!

Fernando,
You are correct on the flowrates - the collectors in series
need to be
scaled down accordingly. I just did a simple simulation with
two in series
using Type1 and compared it to 1 with the same total area in
parallel and
got nominal results (greater outlet temperatures in series,
the useful
energy gain is very similar, yet slightly greater losses in
series). I can
send you the project upon your request.

Matt Duffy

Thanks Matt, hello Felix
I'm still doing some proving. Maybe we should just change the
flow rate
"manually".For two collectors in series it would be the same
as for just
one, in
this case is clear that we are getting another results.
100 m2 in parallel, flow rate 10000 l/h
25m2+25m2+25m2+25m2 flow rate 2500 l/h

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] 64 Bit Fortran Compiler and
Multi-Thread CPU's
Does anyone have experience with a 64
Bit Fortran Compiler?
I have installed Compaq Visual Fortran Professional
Edition for Win 32 x86
Systems V6.6. It is not stable on the three 64 bit
systems I have
installed it on. I must attempt to load the program
multiple times.
Usually when I load the program it instantly quits. I
would like to take advantage
of my 64 bit system and recompile TRNSYS with a 64 Bit
compiler. On the
TESS website and in the forums there is a brief note on
this subject. However
the link that is provided to an Intel site with a 64 bit
compiler is
broken. I have googled 654 bit compliers with little
success. I
have very limited experience with Fortran, so I may not
be using the best
search terms.
Also I am running a second generation
I7 Quad core with two
threads per core. When I run a simulation in the Studio
only one thread
per core is being used. Is there a way to set the
Studio to run on all 8
threads? I set the priority to High (Real Time Setting
Could not be
Applied), and I set the affinity to all 8 threads.
Thanks!

Dear Chelsea,
You are going to need to determine what the types are errors
are that you are receiving when you try to run the simulation,
or elaborate on why they cannot run. When you run your *.tpf
simulation, there are a few files that are created: the deck
file (*.dck, the TRNSYS input file), the log file (*.log), and
the listing file (*.lst). The log and the listing file should
have the information about your errors. Or, there is an icon
on the lower left side of the Simulation Studio, called the
"Result File"; you may also click on that to access the log
information.
I would recommend upgrading to TRNSYS v17 and TESS Libraries
17 as there are many new, useful additions including the
slab-on-grade component with the Google Sketchup plugin, new
radiant slab models, and the basement model as well.
Best regards,
Matt Duffy

Hello, Matt:
Thank you for your reply.
But currently I'm using the TRNSYS version16.01.0003. I
tried Type 705 and Type 712 in my computer, and also in
another computer which is also same TRNSYS version and
Windows 7, both of them couldn't run, and Type 705.lst
file even doesn't exist.
So do you think this is the TESS version problem, do I
need to update the TESS library?
Thank you,
Chelsea

Dear Chelsea,
I was able to run those without any problems in TRNSYS

Those components are from the previous TESS Libraries

distributor to obtain the upgrade to TESS Libraries
17.01 and TRNSYS 17.00.0019.

Could you please try TESS models/studio
projects/ground coupling library/Type 705
and Type 712?
They are radiant slab with embedded pipes.
These two examples can not run in my
computer, and my computer has Windows 7.
Thank you,

Dear all,

If I defined TRNFLOW'S large openig and Ventilation in
TRNBUILD,
How can both of them work? Can they both have influences on

TRNBUILD or both of them? What does the FLVSZ include? Only
TRNFLOW'S large openig's Ventilation?

Hello,
when I add a wall I have
to specify the
layers that
make up the
wall, and for each new layer Trnsys
requires three quantities: conductivity, capacity
and density.
Now, the capacity is expressed in KJ/(Kg K), but for
the layers of wall I have the thermal
conductivity (expressed in W/m²·K) instead of the
capacity as required by
the program.
There is a way to correlate this two quantities so
that I can enter the thermal conductivity instead of
the capacity?
Thanks in advance

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] Type 15-2_Simulation start time
Dear Trnsys users,
I am using Type 15-2 and i am using a simulation timestep
of 3 min. If the
simulation start time is 0 hr, everything works out fine.
But once i change
the simulation starttime to 2000 hours i get the following
error
massage_"unable to correctly read from the supplied data
file-please check
the file and re-run the simulation". This massage refers
to Type 15-2.
If I then change the simulation time step to 1 hour and re
run the
simulation, no error occurs.
So what can I do to if I want a simulation time step
within the range of 1-5
min?
Many thanks in advance

Dear all,
We are glad to invite
you to the,
1st FOCUSED International
TRNSYS Users’ Day
that will take place in
Barcelona the next April 5th,
under the frame of the
Energy Thinking days 2011
As
usual, TRNSYS users’ day wants to be
a space for sharing experiences in
the use of our tool where to
explain, ask and exchange ideas,
works, what to do and what not to.
This time two different things will
be introduced. First of all, the presentation
of new version of TRNSYS, 17th,
with its main new features,
especially it’s Sketch up plug-in,
with a demo. And, also new, the idea
of having a technologically
focused workshop: we ask you
to present your works on
solar
thermal coupled with DHC, heat
pumps and/or seasonal storage,
and
also DHC and seasonal storage by
itself.
The
aim is to have a technical meeting
focused on systems simulation useful
for the 44th and 45th IEA
Tasks work that will have their
meeting in Barcelona the same weeks.
We hope this effort will be useful
for all.

Benvolguts,
Ens plau
convidar-vos al,
1st FOCUSED
International TRNSYS Users’
Day
que
tindrà lloc a Barcelona el proper 5
d’abril sota el paraigües
dels
Energy Thinking days
2011
Com
de costum, el dia els usuaris de
TRNSYS vol ser un espai per
compartir experiències en l'ús
de la nostra eina, per explicar,
preguntar i intercanviar idees,
treballs, què fer i què no.
Aquesta vegada dues coses noves.
En primer lloc, la presentació
de la nova versió de TRNSYS,
la 17, amb les seves
principals novetats, sobretot el
plug-in d’Sketch-Up, amb una
demostració. I, també nou, la
voluntat de ser un taller de
tecnologia enfocada: us
demanem que presenteu els
vostres treballs sobre
solar tèrmica
acoblada amb DHC, bombes de
calor i/o acumulació estacional
i també, DHC i
acumulació estacional en sí
mateixos.
L’objectiu
és aconseguir una trobada tècnica
focalitzada en simulació de
sistemes que sigui d’utilitat per
a les Tasks 44 i 45 de la IEA, que
es trobaran a Barcelona la mateixa
setmana. Esperem que aquest esforç
sigui útil per a tothom.
